1. LY2181308

 

LY2181308 targets survivin, which plays a role in cancer cell death, or apoptosis. Survivin is one of the most commonly over expressed proteins in cancers. LY2181308 inhibits the growth of cancer cells by suppressing expression of survivin. Since normal cells in the body do not express survivin, this drug will have fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy.

 

2. LY2181308

 

LY2181308 targets eukaryotic initiation factor‑4E, or eIF‑4E, a protein involved in tumor progression, angiogenesis and metastases, including breast, head and neck, prostate, lung, bladder, colon, thyroid and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. eIF‑4E acts as a critical switch in cancer progression.

 

 

3. OGX-011

OGX-011 is an inhibitor of the secretory protein clusterin (sCLU), which is in the CLU family of proteins. sCLU acts as a cell-survival protein and is over-expressed in response to tumor killing strategies, such as chemotherapy, hormone ablation and radiation therapy. sCLU has been associated in preventing cell death in tumors, a function that may be related to its ability to clear cell debris after damage from tumor killing strategies. Inhibiting sCLU is intended to enhance the effects of traditional therapies in cancer treatment.

 

4. OGX‑427

OGX‑427 is an antisense inhibitor targeting heat shock protein 27, or Hsp27. Hsp27 is a cell survival protein that is over-produced in response to many cancer treatments, including hormone ablation therapy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Increased Hsp27 production is observed in many human cancers, including prostate, non-small cell lung, breast, ovarian, bladder, renal, pancreatic, multiple myeloma and liver cancers. Increased Hsp27 production is linked to faster rates of cancer progression, treatment resistance and shorter survival duration.
